Vietnam officially licensed 5G network testing
The Ministry of Information and Communications has just issued a license to test the 5G network for the first network operator in Vietnam.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung signed a decision on January 22 to grant license to deploy 5G telecommunication network services to Viettel operator.

Viettel's 5G trial license will be valid for 1 year, on January 22, 2019.

With this license, Viettel is tested to evaluate technical features and ability to deploy telecommunications infrastructure using 5th generation mobile technology - IMT 2020. After this period, Viettel Telecommunications Corporation is responsible for refunding the licensed telecommunications resources.

Viettel's 5G test range is in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The scale of service testing will not exceed 73 positions. During 5G testing, Viettel will not be charged by the test participants.

When deployed, Ho Chi Minh City will be the first locality in the country to be provided with 5G service testing, proceeding to commercialize by 2020.

The Ministry of Information and Communications also said that, together with the 5G trial licensing, the MIC will license the new 4G frequency, and study the route to find the right time to turn off 2G or 3G service waves.
