Training on raising intellectual property awareness at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
Recently, Science and Technology Division, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized a training course on "Raising intellectual property awareness in universities" with experts from the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam.

Attending the training, there were Mr. Le Tat Chien - Deputy Director of Research, Training and Support Center, Consultant, National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (IP); Mr. Pham Van Kien - Patent Evaluation Center, NOIP; Associate professor, Dr. Bui Xuan Lam - Vice Rector, together with leaders and lecturers of the Faculties / Institutes in the school.

Speaking at the training session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam emphasized the importance of IP issues and expressed his wish that HUTECH lecturers improve their understanding of IP issues not only in the country but also in the international scale.

In the recent years, although IP issues are more concerned, in general the establishment of patent protection for research products has not been fully realized.

Expert of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam - Mr. Le Tat Chien shared information about IP rights; intellectual property classification; evaluation and statistics on the status of science and technology activities and IP awareness within universities and research institutes as well as the need to protect intellectual property.

Moreover, in the afternoon, Mr. Pham Van Kien shared with HUTECH lecturers how to look up information about inventions in Vietnam as well as in the world; training skills in writing patent descriptions and procedures for registration of patent protection for their research products.
