Vietnam-Cuba: Sharing experiences on IP and technology transfer
This is a professional workshop for the two bodies to exchange experiences, knowledge and skills on intellectual property (IP) and technology transfer, as well as update the situation of new patent development in the world in the this field.


Overview of the Workshop at the NOIP.

From 10-11 / 9/2019, in Hanoi, the Workshop on Experience Sharing Technology Transfer and Quality Management in the Office of Intellectual Property was organized by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam. This is an event within the framework of cooperation activities between Vietnam IP and the Cuba Industrial Property Authority (OCPI).

Attending the workshop, there were Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of Vietnam National Office of Intellectual Property; Along with nearly 40 representatives of relevant units of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the NOIP. About Cuba, there were Mrs. Hernández Bentiez Yendry, Head of Legal Department, Cuba's Industrial Property Office; Mrs. Belkis Delgado Nusuusnez, Head of Development and Trade, Cuba Industrial Property Office.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Dinh Huu Phi affirmed: Vietnam and Cuba have long-term and good political relations and are considered by the leaders of the two countries to be exemplary, transparent and faithful.

The cooperation in the field of Science and Technology (S&T) with Cuba is highly appreciated by the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, expressed through the MOU between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba in March 2018.

On June 26, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, there was a seminar to discuss and update the situation of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2018 in La Habana, Cuba.

In the framework of the Cooperation Plan for the period of 2018-2019 between the National Office of Intellectual Property and the National Office of Industrial Property of Cuba, there are many activities taking place, starting with the Workshop on Experience sharing of patent examination in in the fields of pharmacy, health care and biotechnology in order to discuss the issues of appraisal and patent in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy and biotechnology.

Besides, within the framework of this program, there are many other activities to be held in Cuba and Vietnam in the field of laws related to industrial property, technology transfer, etc. This activity will contribute to further strengthening the friendly relationship between the two countries Vietnam - Cuba.

The Director also informed that Vietnam has an IP Strategy until 2030, which was signed by the Prime Minister on August 22, 2019, the Strategy will be a guideline for ministries, branches and localities to actively integrate intellectual property content into state management activities, thereby implementing intellectual property activities effectively in socio-economic development in general and each branch in particular.

"In the coming time, the two Agencies continue to organize similar workshops to improve the capacity of appraisers, contributing to the overall evaluation of each Agency," the Director expressed his wish.
