Quang Ngai: Manage and develope Minh Long tea certification brand
Recently, Minh Long District People's Committee (Quang Ngai) organized a workshop on science and technology projects "Managing and developing the certification trademark of Minh Long Tea.”


Attending the workshop, there were representatives of Department of Science and Technology, People's Council and Minh Long District People's Committee, Infrastructure Economic Division, Long Hiep Cooperative Agriculture and households in the project at 03 communes of Long Hiep, Long Mai and Thanh An.​ With the goal of the project is to establish a mechanism to manage and exploit certified Minh Long tea brand in order to improve the value and reputation of Minh Long tea products on the market inside and outside province; to build a common and unified management model in the organization of effective administration and commercial exploitation of Minh Long tea products; to develop a number of traditional tea areas in strict compliance with the technical processes of planting, tending and gathering to increase productivity, product quality and process of preliminary processing and packaging.

Through the report, the project has collaborated with the Center for Tea Research and Development - Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Technology Institute to directly build and transfer technology, organize training and guidance on planting and caring techniques of Minh Long tea squirrel, collection and packaging.

The project has invested in equipment for processing, packaging, preserving fresh tea including refrigerators, tables and chairs, spring scales, frames and etc. Planting 6 hectares of tea in 3 communes: Long Hiep commune with 2 hectares with 24 participating households; Long Mai commune has 2 ha with 4 participating households and Thanh An commune with 2 ha with 10 participating households. Currently, 6 hectares of tea are newly planted in households that grow well, the survival rate is over 80%.

The trademark of Minh Long tea was certified by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam in Decision No. 44508 / QD-SHTT dated July 3, 2017 with the trademark "Minh Long Tea with strong flavor."

On that basis, the project has developed the consumption of products on the market in the province more than 20 tons of tea in 8 wholesale markets, Co.opmart supermarkets and VPSH Limited Company in Quang Phu.

Currently, the price of fresh tea is sold to farmers from 8,000 - 10,000 VND / 0.5kg (previously, there were no brands, fresh tea sold only from 4,000 - 5,000 VND / 0.5kg), the project decided on employment for 42 members of NN Long Hiep Cooperative and people supply fresh tea to cooperatives.

The Department of Science and Technology requests the lead agency and project manager to review the whole project, stick to the objectives and fully implement the 7 products required by the project, complete all the contents according to the approved and prepared project for acceptance in the future.
