Intellectual property in new generation FTAs: Commitment is high and comprehensive
New free trade agreements (FTAs), typically the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement and Transpacific Progress (CPTPP), have improved the level of intellectual property (IP) protection beyond with the prevailing international standard, the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).

According to the NOIP, Vietnam has actively integrated international IP over the past time, especially with the achievement of important milestones in negotiating major FTAs, which are considered to have a great influence on the Vietnamese economy in general and IP system in particular.

Especially, the two new generation FTAs including the Vietnam and EU FTA (EVFTA) and CPTPP, the IP commitments are high and more comprehensive level, the scope of diverse adjustment issues covers many fields.

In addition to confirming the important fundamentals of the TRIPS Agreement as other agreements, these two agreements set a high demand for transparency in policies and regulations relating to IP.
