Protection of geographical indications for custard apple "Cat Lo Ba Ria - Vung Tau"
The National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam issued a certificate of registration of geographical indication number 00071 for custard apple products "Cat Lo Ba Ria - Vung Tau". Rural Development Department of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is the organization managing this geographical indication.

Geographical area includes: Ward 11, Ward 12 of Vung Tau City; Chau Pha commune of Tan Thanh district; Phuoc Long Tho commune of Dat Do district; Binh Chau commune belongs to Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Custard apple is one of the special fruit trees of Ba Ria Vung Tau province, is a product not only familiar to the people in the province but also a gift for tourists when coming to Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Custard apple occurred in Cat Lo area in 1954. Through a process of selection of varieties and development, so far custard apple in Cat Lo has affirmed that it is a very special, distinct and distinctive custard apple and quality is preferred by consumers.

Today, the custard apple is considered the main fruit tree of Ba Ria Vung Tau province, this is a non-picky plant but it cannot stand water-logging so it is grown quite popular in many localities. Cat Lo Ba Ria - Vung Tau custard apple is increasingly known after winning the first prize in the contest of delicious fruit, good varieties in the Southeast in 2008.

Thanks to favorable natural conditions, the traditional experience of the local people, Cat Lo Ba Ria - Vung Tau custard apple is very special, different and has good quality favored by consumers and traders.
