Solar power on the roof: The future for clean energy in Vietnam
That is judgment of Dr. Le Hai Hung, Hanoi University of Technology at the workshop on "Solar Energy in Vietnam: Integration with the Power Network: Opportunities and Challenges."

Dr. Le Hai Hung affirmed, considering the advantages of solar energy development in Vietnam, we must first mention that we are rich in sunshine resources, because the average solar radiation productivity in Vietnam is 4 - 5. kWh / m2 / day, high in the world.

In terms of policies, Decision No.11/2017 / QD –TTg on "Mechanism to encourage the development of solar power projects  in Vietnam" with many incentives has created a driving force for solar power projects  development as a priority on land use tax, prioritizing science and technology activities on renewable energy and etc.

There are about 20 solar panels (Solar Panel) in Vietnam coming from the United States, China, Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong and many other countries want to build Solar plants in Vietnam, such as Australia, Japan and etc. All factories have a large output of 250MWp / year, especially Vinasolar (Bac Giang) with output of 3.5GWp / year. It is estimated, in 2018 Vietnam produced 10MWp (mainly exported to Europe and the United States).

The cost of the 2019 solar cell falls in the range of 0.5 USD / Wp, and it is expected to continue to fall.
