Climate Change
In the morning of March 17, 2016, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a national consultation workshop to build the Decree of the Government of the roadmaps and procedures to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in Vietnam.
Ministry of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 172 / QD-BKHCN on approval of "science and technology programs to cope with climate change, natural resource and environment management period 2016-2020" implemented by Ministry of Natural resources and Environment.
The exhibition "Living with Disaster - The story of the woman" has been extending from March 7 - 31, 2016 at the Vietnam Women's Museum, No 36 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hanoi. The message of the exhibition is "change awareness and action to enhance women's participation in disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change."
In order to "save" thirsty for people in the dry season this year, Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee is directing the professional sector, local governments urgently drill 11 new groundwater wells in all the areas at risk of household water shortage, at the latest in this March water will be provied for people.
On February 25, the second Red River Delta Forum "Cope with climate change" organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) took place in Hai Phong city.
The Prime Minister approved a list of project for "Development of Can Tho city and enhancement of urban adaptation capacity" to loan the World Bank (WB).
On January 5, Nam Dinh province held a festival "Disaster Risk Mitigation and climate change adaptation in the schools" at Giao Xuan Primary School (Giao Thuy).
The world experts said that Vietnam is a heavily impacted country by global climate change, ranked second among countries with average incomes.
Thanks to breakwater barrier projects that tens of km coast of Kien Giang avoid erosion, prevent salinization encroachment deeply into mainland, helping people stabilize their lives. The project was implemented by the Government of Germany, Australia and Vietnam.
Ministers and Heads of Delegation of countries affirmed, the goals posed in Da Nang agreement are ambitious and will have to overcome many challenges to achieve.
