Workshop to announce the plan of strengthening resilience in Can Tho city
In the morning of June 19, 2019, Can Tho City collaborated with the 100 Resilient City Program (100RC) sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation to announce the Plan of Strengthening Resilience of Can Tho City. This is the first urban resilience plan for the fast-growing city of the Mekong Delta.

The plan of strengthening the resilience of Can Tho City with a green, sustainable, dynamic, and integrated riverside city vision where people can live safely, prosperously and no one is left behind. The plan revolves around 4 areas with a number of short and long-term actions to achieve 4 objectives:

- Health and welfare: Can Tho will guarantee that residents will have a stable income, live in a clean and safe environment with economic, social and environmental shocks and pressures;

- Infrastructure and environment: Can Tho will become a green, sustainable, modern, efficient, flexible and resilient city with extreme situations;

- Economy and society: Can Tho will diversify its economy by developing agricultural value chains and better adapting to market fluctuations;

- Strategies, policies and coordination mechanisms: Can Tho will develop policies and plans in a systematic and positive way to help the city cope with shocks and pressures.

100 resilient cities (hereinafter referred to as 100RC) - founded by the Rockefeller Foundation - help cities around the world become more resilient to the growing challenges of the 21st century in society and economy and environment. 100RC provides this support through sponsoring an Office Manager in charge of resilience in each city, resources to develop a draft Resilience Strategy; access to private sector, public, academic and non-governmental anti-governmental tools; and a member of the global network of cities to share experiences and challenges.
