Discuss the economic impact of climate change in Vietnam
On May 7, 2018, in Hanoi, French Development Agency (AFD), the Climate Change Department (MONRE) and the National Economics University co-organized a workshop on "The Economic Impact of Climate Change in Vietnam."

Attending the workshop, there were Mr. Oliveier Sigaud, Vice President of France, Director of National Development Agency (AFD); the Embassy of Italy; Manager Board of the National Economics University, Leaders of the Climate Change Department - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and experts, scientists and students, young scientists from universities, institutes, agencies and specialized organizations in economics and climate change of Vietnam and France. The workshop focused on introducing new research results of the science of climate change, the impacts of climate change, especially the economic aspects of climate change.

Speaking at the workshop, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, Head of the National Economics University emphasized that the forces in universities play an important role in addressing the various challenges posed by climate change through scientific research, connecting climate change issues in the training, teaching programs of the school, encouraging and promoting the participation of pupils and students in scientific research, giving new ideas, and at the same time improving knowledge, skills, promotion of communication on climate change. The workshop topic is very appropriate to many subjects of research, teaching and learning of the national economies university, especially in such areas as economics, management and business administration, environment and sustainable development.

At the workshop, Mr. Fabrice Richy, Country Director of AFD, said that the French side always accompanies the Vietnamese agencies in developing and implementing models of sustainability, resilience and increasing enhanced resilience; economical and efficient use of natural resources; adapt to climate change and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, AFD is always interested in policy dialogue forums, macroeconomic issues associated with climate change in Vietnam. He said that this workshop is a good opportunity for experts and scientists to exchange and discuss deeply on the economic impact of climate change on Vietnam.
