Opportunities for implementation of emission reduction projects under the common credit mechanism
Recently, in Hai Phong, the Climate Change Department (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) has coordinated with the Japan Global Environment Facility (IGES) to organize a workshop to introduce the Joint credit Mechanism (JCM) and opportunity to implement low emission projects for Vietnamese enterprises.


Attending the workshop, there were Deputy Director General of the Department of Climate Change Pham Van Tan, IGES representative of Japan and related agencies, units and enterprises.

Delegates attended the workshop to discuss and clarify the JCM mechanism; sharing experiences, information on the projects have been implemented; Discuss the remaining issues in the implementation of mechanisms to improve the mechanism among local enterprises and the IGES Institute for Global Environmental Strategies.

Under the framework of low-carbon development cooperation, Japan and Vietnam are implementing the JCM Joint credit mechanisms (signed in June 2013) with the aim of promoting the transfer and dissemination of low carbon emission  technologies contribute to the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Vietnam.

The workshop was organized to provide information and opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to cooperate with Japanese companies in developing low carbon emission projects and improving production efficiency under the framework of the JCM Mechanism. The JCM is proposed by Japan, considered as a voluntary cooperative mechanism, through financial support and technology transfer to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developing and potential countries. It has become a global mechanism with a growing network of participating countries.
