Vietnam - Finland: Continue to promote cooperation on science and technology and innovation
Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Kari Kahiluoto, affirmed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) Bui The Duy held on 7/7, in Hanoi.

Attending the meeting, there were also Economic and Development Counselor Matti Tervo, Embassy staff and leaders and representatives of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Science and Technology).

Deputy Minister Bui The Duy and Ambassador Kari Kahiluoto expressed their pleasure to see the good cooperation between Vietnam and Finland in the field of science, technology and innovation, outstanding achievements and strong developments in the recent years, especially the successes of the Vietnam - Finland Creative Partnership Program Project (IPP). At the same time, the two sides shared the situation of coping with the Covid-19 pandemic, the orientation of S&T cooperation between the two countries on the basis of the Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Ministry of Economy and Employment of Finland signed in 2018.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy said that Finnish priorities are also issues that MOST is interested in, promoting domestic activities as well as cooperation with foreign partners.

Thereby, the Deputy Minister hoped that the two sides would actively exchange to implement specific cooperation activities in the coming time such as: (i) Supporting joint research projects among research institutes and universities two countries; (ii) piloting a model to support small and medium sized businesses in R&D and innovation through digital platforms; (iii) Attract Finnish experts to participate in a series of Innovation Weeks, Regional Techfest and the Artificial Intelligence Festival held in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2020; (iv) Strengthen cooperation in training human resources for Vietnam, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

Agreeing with the opinion of Deputy Minister Bui The Duy, Mr. Kari Kahiluoto affirmed to continue promoting cooperation between the two sides, giving priority to a number of fields, such as projects within the framework of the Higher Education Support Program ( Higher Education Institutional Instrument); Researching the digitalization market (Digitalization Market Study); Promote research and development in the private sector (Promoting R&D in Private Sector); Development Market Platform.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their unanimity with the desire to continue to promote strong cooperation in S&T cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, making practical contributions to the goals of economic - Socio development stability of the two countries in the coming time.
