"There is no overlap between TCVN and QCVN on beverage"
On 27/5, the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality had a meeting with Vietnam Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Association (VBA) to comment on the draft TCVN of Beverage.

Attending the meeting, there were Deputy  Directorate of Standards and Quality Nguyen Hoang Linh, representatives of Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute and some units of the Directorate. From VBA side, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Viet - VBA President, Mr. Luong Xuan Dung - Chief of VBA Office, together with representatives of several beverage businesses.

At the meeting, the Directorate of Standardization, Metrology and Quality exchanged ideas related to the draft of TCVN on beverage. In which, VBA Association raised a number of concerns with the expectation of the Drafting Board of Vietnam Standards for consideration. Specifically, the Draft TCVN on soft drinks has some overlaps and conflicts with current regulations, the content of the draft is incompatible with international regulations and practices.

Answering on this issue, the representative of Vietnam Quality Standard Institute, Mrs. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director, said that the process of developing national standards is very transparent and strict, after being included in the plan, first there will be a draft proposal, then a draft technical committee. Hence, there is a draft ISO. The next step is to gather public comments, hold conferences, scientific workshops and thematic suggestions to contribute technical aspects to the draft. Next is the draft verification, appraisal and finally submit the draft for publication. TCVN will be published and not issued.
