Vietnam tested Covid-19 vaccine on mice for the second phase
It is expected that in June, the second phase of testing of the nCoV vaccine will be started on mice, after the first round of satisfactory results.

Dr. Do Tuan Dat believes that Vietnam can become one of the countries in the world that can produce SARS-CoV-2 vaccine successfully.

Vaccine  and Biological Product No. 1 Limited Company (VABIOTECH), Ministry of Health, said this unit will conduct a test shot of Covid-19 vaccine against the second phase. It is expected that the trial will be conducted in early June on the mouse. The number of mice has not been decided.

Mr. Do Tuan Dat, director of VABIOTECH, said: “So far, the first tests for mice have shown promising results. "Human trials will take longer, because the specific situation is very different from what we've seen, currently it is not sure how long the clinical trial will last."

He also added that right from the end of January when the outbreak of the disease began to intensify in Wuhan, after a genetic sequence from Wuhan scientists announced, VABIOTECH researchers collaborated with scientists at Bristol University (UK) to study Covid-19 vaccine.

On April 26, 50 mice were vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of immune antibody production. Blood samples from lab mice were sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

So far, the laboratory mice are healthy, continue to monitor the immune response in phase 1, while the blood sample of mice is in the waiting period for evaluation results. This is a positive signal for the production of the vaccine against Covid-19.

In Vietnam, VABIOTECH is the first unit to research and test vaccine in mice. Around the world, there are about 80 vaccine developers all over the same period with Vietnam, there are 8 companies who have been in parallel testing on animals and on a small group of volunteers.
