Honoring the scientists for their many contributions to COVID-19 prevention
More than 250,000 COVID-19 tests produced by Vietnam have been provided to the whole country. The product is sold to 8 countries with more than 20,000 tests, 12 other countries are in the process of negotiating to buy the product.

That is the information published by the Ministry of Science and Technology at the celebration of the Vietnam Science and Technology Day, the Ta Quang Buu Award in 2020 and honor the organizations and individuals in the industry with COVID-19 prevention activities held in Hanoi on May 18.

The Ta Quang Buu Prize in 2020 was awarded to three scientists from the medical sciences, mathematics and physics sciences, including one female scientist.

Especially, on this year's Science and Technology Day, the Ministry of Science and Technology honored the typical organizations and individuals in carrying out research tasks for the prevention of COVID-19.

Right from the first days of the outbreak, scientific and technological tasks at the national level, many studies have been carried out according to a special process, so far, there are positive results, and timely real for epidemic prevention, such as:

- Research on epidemiological characteristics

- Development of a new corona virus detection kit (SARS-CoV2)

- Monoclonal antibodies

- Treatment regimen

- Robots and breathing machines serve situations to cope with outbreaks.

In particular, the SARS-CoV-2 detection kit presided by the Military Medical Academy, in collaboration with the Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company, performed research and production successfully and was licensed to use by the Ministry of Health, UK granted a certification, is sold freely in the European market.

The Ministry of Science and Technology said that in addition to more than 250,000 COVID-19 tests used domestically, the product has sold to 8 countries around the world with more than 20,000 tests, 12 other countries are in the process of talks to buy the product.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated the scientists and units who were recognized by the scientific community for their very concrete and practical contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemics.
