Vietnam's COVID-19 rapid test kit is approved WHO standards
The COVID-19 rapid test kit produced by Vietnam has just been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved Vietnam's  COVID-19 rapid test product, which was assigned to research and production by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Military Hospital and Viet A Company. WHO has also assessed the LightPower iVA SARS-CoV-2 1st RT-rPCR Kit, manufactured by Viet A Company, according to the Emergency Use List Process (EUL) and the EUL code 0524-210-00.

Earlier, on 21/4, the UK Ministry of Health and Social Care also issued a certificate of European standard (CE) and a certificate of free sale (CFS) for the test product. COVID-19 test kit can be sold freely in all member states of the European economic region including the United Kingdom.

After being licensed by the UK Ministry of Health and Social Care, the Viet Company A COVID-19 test kit was exclusively ordered by a partner to distribute in the UK, India, Mexico, USA and some countries in Europe with the minimum commitment of 1 million of tests / month. Besides, many organizations are interested in products, such as WB, CHAI fund and etc.

A representative of Viet A Company said that the full time for the process to produce a positive or negative result for SARS-CoV-2 was more than 2 hours. Currently, the only method in the world recognized by WHO as the "gold standard" for detecting this virus is Real-Time RT-PCR.

Currently, the production capacity of the company according to the domestic packaging is about 10,000 tests / day, when needed, it can increase the capacity to 3 times (about 30,000 tests / day). As for export packaging, the average capacity is 100,000 tests / day and maximum of 200,000 tests / day. With these capacities fully meet domestic and export needs, or international support.

The cost of producing the kit has been funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology so the current price is only 400,000 - 600,000 VND / test. The market price of CDC American process is higher 2-3 times, but it is not commercially produced in ready-to-use kit. 1 kit of 50 tests, used 50 times. Theoretically, for 50 patients.
