The special "encounter" of 5 major science projects
In the afternoon of February 12, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam met more than 70 scientists who are participating in 5 major scientific projects, such as research and compilation of Vietnamese History; Vietnamese Encyclopedia; Vietnam national monograph; Digitalization knowledge system; Translating and promoting the quintessence of oriental classics works.


At the meeting, representatives of scientists announced about the progress of implementing the same new points, creative ways to implement these projects.

Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Cuong, Chairman of the Historical Science Association said the project "Research and compilation of Vietnamese History" (National History) is special importance, including Vietnam History set of 25 volumes, Vietnam History Chronicle Set of 5 volumes and Vietnam History Database.

So far, the project has the participation of about 300 scientists throughout the country, especially leading experts on national history from ancient to modern, Party history, revolutionary history, military history, history of security, culture and archeology and leaders, managers and scientists in other related fields. The project aims to build new awareness of the comprehensive Vietnamese history.

Announcement on the compilation schedule of Vietnam Encyclopedia, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice Chairman of the Compilation Steering Committee said that Vietnam's Encyclopedia is a synthetic, large-scale, reflecting form past and present achievements and knowledge of mankind and Vietnam, from more than 70 experts in the fields of social sciences, humanities, culture, arts, nature sciences and science and technology, including 37 volumes, can be printed and published online.

This is also the first time Vietnam has organized to compile a set of encyclopedia. Until now, the Project Management Board decided to appoint 37 chief editors of 37 specialized books.

In the first year, more than 600 scientists participated in the development of a specialized book outline. It is expected that when officially compiled, there will be about 5,000-6,000 scientists participating in the Project within 10 years.
