Korea shared experiences in developing robots and AI applications
The experience of Korea shows that the close association between ministries, combine with research organizations and businesses is an important factor for developing robots and applying artificial intelligence.

This issue has been mentioned in the workshop "Robot and artificial intelligence application - International and Vietnam experiences" held in the afternoon of May 6, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Korean Robot Association (KROS).

The workshop attracted the participation of many domestic and international individuals and organizations with diverse components: experts from research institutes and universities to businesses, such Autotech Company (Vietnam) or Yujin Robot Company - one of the largest robotics companies in Korea.

Korea is one of the leading countries in robot development and AI, has the largest robot density in the world, exceeding the global average by 8 times, with 631 robots / 10,000 people (according to report of International Robot Group in 2018).

Sharing about Korea's experiences, Professor Byung-Ju Yi, President of KROS, said one of the most prominent points in the Korean robot development strategy and AI is to focus on the connection among the Government with businesses, universities, research institutes and social organizations.

On the government side, the two units, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Communication, will be responsible for issuing policies on robot research and development, and AI.

According to Professor Byung-Ju Yi, if they want these policies to be effective, the above units must work closely together during the implementation process.

Within the framework of the workshop, MOST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KROS to promote cooperation on robots and AI applications among universities, research institutes and businesses in both countries through collaborative forms, such as implementing joint research projects, technology transfer projects, expert exchange and joint annual seminar organization in these fields.
