Turning sea water into fresh water for soldiers in Truong Sa
The system can filter 18 m3 of seawater into household water for people and soldiers in Truong Sa to use.

A seawater filtration system into fresh water has been transferred for soldiers and people in Song Tu Tay Island (Truong Sa Island District, Khanh Hoa) by Commander of the Navy, Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation.

Water filtration system consists of four machines, each day it provides approximately 18 m3 of fresh water. Each refinery capacity is differently designed, such as filter about 250 liters / hour or 236 liters / hour. To operate filtration systems based on wind power, solar power installed earlier on the island. Energy consumption level is about 20 kWh / m3.

Sea water filters use reverse osmosis technology. This technology works on the principle, seawater with a high salt concentration when moving through the semi-permeable membrane will turn into dilute salt solution for salt compound with large molecules are retained, only molecules water cross.
